A tree….

A

tree

Speaks on

this snowy night.

Look more.

Do you see us captive in this

light?  Our branches must Bend,

going under this new weight, come Again,

with the light of new day, we

will soon melt into

softer

snow.

Down.

A

tree

Hears on

this snowy night.

Listen for

the groaning of weight

to repair what moves in frozen limbs.

Changing to be the focus of now,

the new season of time, care and love.

reforming with stillness,

softer

snow.

Down.

A

tree to

bring us thoughts

of meaning and perceptiveness

Grown in another home, transplanted

Here, to bring

memories and smiles and a view from that past

with many promises of the future, growing in all

directions, from above, to the sides unseen, to the back

unseen in Plain Sight,

softer

Now,

Down.

The Whys…

Do people forget that my child is not their child?

Why…

Do people not take the time to know from where my child comes?

Why…

Do people think this child is separate from me when he walks through a door?

Why…

Do people not reach out to meet and know us?

Why…

If I reached out first, do people turn away?

Why…

When I ask, do you not answer?

Or…

Do you answer but I cannot yet understand?

I have trouble seeing

some of those simple things

They often show up slyly

suspecting, with a new season to bring.

I have trouble seeing

Newness in all of its forms.

but if I learn to see again

What wonders will be born?

I have no talent…

of which to display,

In gathering of show

for voices.

In motions undone

for dance.

Bending and sculpting

leaving a statement to display.

I have no talent…

of which to share,

For winning accolades

of persuasion when sheltered with

those beyond repair.

I have no talent…

Moving among those warehoused,

Speaking to those still silent,

Pushing those motionless

past an edge smooth with

countless rubbings back and forth.

I have no talent…

Yet

I am the reason those with talent…

May shine.

November 7th, 2010

There once was a classroom…

where a little girl did not want to go.

And day in and day out, she cried.

So, the teacher, Harvy Christie,  ignored the mom.

The principal, Ben Hardwick, said, “you’ll just have to come observe.”

Another teacher, Ms Jolin, said, “I’ll listen to a parent if it’s a valid concern.”

And the Superintendent, Carol Comeau,  said, “Yes, I got your letter about the children being hit by the teacher, and I chose to ignore it.”

And  Powerlessness became Real.

The mom wanted to hit the teacher but she would be arrested with a Felony.

The teacher knew he could hit the children.

And good people stood by and said, “It’s easier not to believe this.  If I believe this I will have to do something.  What would we do?”

No one takes responsibility.  No one makes it right.

Until,

the mom said, “I’ll just go to 9 PTA meetings.”

Just nine.

and she learns that there are people all over the World who say,

“We know what to do !”

“Let us teach you.”

And they did.

But the Superintendent got very scared, because…

What if…

Parents learn they have rights ??

Grandparents learn they can be valued ??

Aunts and Uncles learn that schools are for everyone ??

and

The Community learns there is

discrimination,

fraud,

corruption,

larceny,

conflicts of interest,

collusion, and graft ??

I ask you,

What would someone do…

To make sure the

Powerless

do not become

Real

????

Say What You Need to Say

Am I scary ?

It just all depends…

Upon whatcha’ been doin’ lately…
